It’s Complicated (Haiku of a Moment’s Confusion)

Her eyes are colored
like luscious leaves grazing skies
a much greater prize.

I bask in your light
like the moon bathes in sunshine
on your horizons.

Convincing myself
that you are less than perfect
proves impossible.

That I am in pain
was rarely of your concern
and never your fault.

Proclaiming one’s love,
like the deepest of trenches,
is precarious.
