Species Dysphoria

I am flesh and sinew
a woman, a sensual being,
red lips and floral sundress.
I bear no claws, tail, or wings;
I sing with a woman’s voice
and know I am of man.
Yet, I envy you endlessly,
ravens of the sky,
otters of the salted sea.
I wish I were you
or you were me
or we met somewhere between.
