Hayli M. Cox is an MA candidate at Northern Michigan University, studying writing and literature in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. She serves as an associate nonfiction/hybrid editor for Passages North as well as the event coordinator and founding member of a local volunteer organization, Pay It Forward. Her work has most recently been published in The Gateway Review (3rd Place Summer Writing Contest), Open Palm Print, and Hippocampus Magazine, with essays forthcoming in Paper Darts and Diagram. She prefers writing domestic fabulism and creative nonfiction/hybrid formats involving lots of research, but she uses this blog to dabble in haiku and poetry (which she acknowledges she’s not great at). She often wishes she had a tail, wings, or scales and feels very connected to her evolutionary past. In her free time Hayli plays with Legos, walks her cat, and frequently indulges in Lake Superior night swims.
